Traffic Safety

At a busy intersection in Saitama, a reverent display for traffic safety. Elementary school kids cross here every morning. Fresh incense, clean clothes, and always with the brush cleared. I wonder what happened here to make this effort seem worth it. Periodically you’ll see in Japan flower displays and water bottles set on streets and sidewalks in such a way that it’s obvious they’ve been set out for some dearly departed loved one.
